Richard Dupuy

Owner / CEO

Richard Dupuy is founder and CEO of UHP Projects, Inc since the company’s inception in 1993. He founded the company to supply state of the art surface preparation and recoating services to the Marine and Industrial industries. The company has grown to over 80 employees in the Tidewater VA area.

UHP Projects provides UHP waterjetting services including coatings removal, cold cutting services, automated surface preparation, nonskid and maintenance coating services to these industries. Principle customers include the US Navy, US Coast Guard, Corp of Engineers and many Industrial customers utilizing state of the art, environmentally friendly surface preparation and recoating techniques.

Prior to starting UHP Projects, Dupuy was the Department superintendent for UHP services at Halliburton where he managed the UHP services of 7 District offices. Under his direction, in 1990, the company completed the first large scale lead abatement project utilizing UHP waterjetting technology to remove lead paint from 265,000 Ft2 of bilge areas on CVN65 at Newport News Shipyard.

Dupuy graduated from the University of Louisiana in 1978 with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a minor in Business Management. He has published several technical papers with Trade Organizations on the use of UHP waterjetting for surface preparation applications. Since 1988 he has served on the Technical committee that developed the written and visual SSPC and NACE standards for UHP surface preparation that are currently in use.

Jennifer Byrd

Industrial Estimator

Jennifer has been with HydroPrep since 2013. She began her career with the company as a summer intern during her summer breaks while in college. After she graduated she went to work as a Project Manager Assistant with a general contracting company gaining valuable skills that she applies to her work with HydroPrep.

She began her career at HydroPrep as a Project Manager Assistant and then took on the role if Industrial Estimator in 2016. Jennifer handles projects from the bidding process to the completion of the project. Her responsibility includes estimates, project submittals, tracking Project Management reports, and project close out documents.

Industrial Estimator

Mark Wilde

Environment Safety and Health Manager

Mark brings an engineering background to the team with 20 plus years of experience in the industry. Mark graduated from Texas A&M with a Mechanical Engineering degree, and is very knowledgeable in surface preparation and coating systems while providing safety and training for this equipment to company employees.

Current responsibilities include safety inspections at job sites, safety inspection of company equipment, development of safety documents and reviewing quality assurance logs completed by supervisors and performs QA inspections that ensure our projects are completed safely and with a satisfactory quality our customers deserve.
